Lake County homeless count set for Wednesday

Volunteers are still needed for Wednesday’s street count of homeless people in Lake County.

The Continuum of Care Network of Northwest Indiana will conduct the count as part of the 2012 Point-In-Time Count coordinated by Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the state housing finance agency, and the Local Regional Planning Council. The Point-In-Time Count is a survey and count of homeless people throughout the nation Wednesday. During last year’s count, 478 homeless people were counted in Gary, Hammond and East Chicago.
