GARY — A man was critically injured in a Sunday afternoon shooting behind a barbershop.
Lake County Police officers responded to the incident at 44th and Cleveland about 3:05 p.m., Assistant Lake County Police Chief Dan Murchek said. Multiple shots were said to have been fired.
The man was taken to a local hospital; his name was not released pending family notification.
Details were few Sunday evening as the county crime lab, patrol officers and detectives investigated.
Drug or gang activity are among the possible motives, but nothing conclusive had been determined, authorities said.
