HOBART — A crash involving two trucks resulted in injuries to one driver and some power outages Monday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., a tractor-trailer was driving south on Indiana 51 when the driver disregarded the stop sign at 73rd Avenue and struck a Merrillville Street Department truck.

The crash caused a NIPSCO pole to fall, which resulted in some area power outages.

The driver of the Merrillville Street Department truck was transported to the Methodist Hospitals Southlake with injuries.

Northbound traffic on Indiana 51 between U.S. 30 and 73rd Avenue was shut down for two hours to clear the scene.
