Updated: March 2, 2012 8:16AM

GARY — Robbery charges have been filed against two Gary teens in connection with a holdup of a Griffith businessman who was making a food delivery.

Dominique McClinton, 19, and Darryl Tarbert, 18, face a maximum 20- to 50-year sentence in the robbery that occurred in the Oak Knoll Apartment complex. Adolph Flores, the owner of Pepe’s, told police he was making a delivery about 10:50 p.m. Sept. 30 in the 4300 block of West 23rd Place when a man asked him if he was from Pepe’s. As he started to tell the person the amount of the bill, the person hit him above his right eye with the barrel of a rifle. Two other males ran up and hit him with an object and demanded cash. They went through his pockets, took money and started kicking and hitting him.

Flores was treated at Community Hospital in Munster for injuries, which included cuts near his eye, a bruised hand, broken finger, sprained ankle and lost toenail.

McClinton, who has a pending battery case, and Tarbert face a maximum 50-year sentence.

Tarbert told police only he and McClinton participated in the robbery, the probable cause affidavit states.
