Police Taser man after disturbance
A 51-year-old Crown Point man has been charged with resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct after an altercation at his home that ended up with police Tasering the suspect.
Michael J. Kucki, 51, was charged after police responded to a call about a disturbance at his home around 7:10 p.m. Sunday, according to Crown Point Assistant Police Chief James Janda.
When police arrived and tried to contact the subjects in the house, Kucki resisted. He refused to open the door and at one point tried to disguise his voice as a female to tell police everything was OK.
After officers forced their way into the residence, Kucki approached them aggressively, and he was Tasered. Kucki removed the Taser prongs from his check and began to struggle and fight with the officers until he was ultimately subdued and placed into custody.

Lowe’s copper thief admits to robbery
A Michigan City man was sentenced to four years in an alternative program, followed by one year on probation, for robbery.
Scott Andrew Underwood, 24, admitted he stole copper fittings on April 18 from the Lowe’s store in Schererville by using or threatening to use force.
Lake Superior Court Judge Diane Ross Boswell ordered the sentence to be served in Lake County Community Corrections, with initial placement in the Kimbrough Work Program.
Underwood had faced a maximum 20-year sentence on the original robbery charge, which was dismissed under terms of the plea agreement.
