Gary minister to be honored

GARY — The Rev. Lloyd Hall, pastor at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Gary, has been named Pastor of the Year by the African-American Achievers Youth Corps Inc.
Hall, who has headed his church for 21 years, will receive the award at Saturday’s Stellar Gospel Awards at 7 p.m. at the Glen Theater, 20 W. Ridge Road.
Hall is the co-founder of the Froebel Community Council and has served as president of the Baptist Ministers Conference.
The Hearnes Family, a gospel group, will receive a lifetime achievement award.
Other awards include Church of the Year, and singing and instrumental awards.
Tickets for the event are $20 and may be purchased at Beautiful Things, 3570 Village Court. Tickets are $25 at the door. For information, contact Vernon Smith at 887-2046.
