A Hammond man will serve almost five years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing three banks, including two in Lake County.
William Rostin was sentenced Tuesday in the U.S. District Court in Hammond to 57 months. He also must pay $7,173 in restitution to the banks, according to court records
Rostin was accused of robbing a Fifth Third Bank in Hammond last July and a First Financial Bank in Highland a few days later. He also admitted to robbing a TCF National Bank in South Holland, Ill.
Rostin was found soon after the robberies when an Illinois police officer noticed his car, parked at the River Oaks Mall, matched the description of a car involved in the robberies.
The crime spree came just a few months after Rostin had been released from prison in January 2011 after serving time for another bank robbery.
