A Newton Superior Court jury convicted a Northwest Indiana man of intimidation involving a Lake Superior Court magistrate and also found him to be a habitual offender.
Oscar Guillen Sr., 54, faces a maximum six-year sentence for intimidation and from 18 to 54 months for the habitual offender count.
Guillen, who was found in contempt by Lake Superior Court Judge Clarence Murray and whose case was granted a change of venue to Newton County, has a March 8 sentencing hearing before Judge Daniel Molter.
Evidence presented by deputy prosecutor Eric Randall showed that Guillen, who was incarcerated in Indiana State Prison, sent a letter dated Aug. 19, 2009 and signed by him to Judge Elizabeth Tavitas regarding Magistrate Nanette Raduenz in which he threatens injury to Raduenz over handling of a civil suit involving Guillen.
Guillen has two other cases pending for battery by body waste and intimidation. Those cases also were transferred to Newton County.
