HOBART — The Board of Public Works and Safety has approved installation of an Adopt-A-River sign near the Old Ridge Road bridge by Festival Park as requested by the Hobart Jaycees.
The sign indicates the Jaycees have adopted the area for clean-up purposes.
James Anderson, vice president of the Hobart Jaycees, said the organization has been cleaning up the area from the railroad tracks to the dam for a couple of years and wanted the sign installed to show people what they’re doing.
City Planner A.J. Bytnar felt the two signs that would be included — a 4-foot by 3-foot Department of Natural Resources sign and a 1-foot by 4-foot Jaycees sign underneath — was a little large for informational purposes.
Anderson said the sign was sent to them by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
