GARY

Court behavior will delay man’s case

An Ambridge area man arrested last week created “disruptive behavior” in Lake Superior Court Monday, prompting the judge to postpone his initial hearing until Friday.

Victor G. Cody, 50, of 265 Fillmore St., was arrested after a 27-year-old woman reported being grabbed, held and struck by him as she walked in his neighborhood.

The victim told Sgt. Dan Callahan that Cody, who she met briefly a few weeks ago, walked up to her and asked her for a sex act, offering to pay her. She refused and he grabbed her hair and pushed her against a house.

She broke away and called police.

Cpl. Charles Lucas and Cmdr. Kerry Rice arrived in the area and located Cody, who is being held at Lake County Jail on $30,000 bail.

Pair caught shortly after robbing man

Police arrested two Gary men minutes after a robbery occurred in Midtown early Tuesday.

Michael Gregory, 34, and Keith Anthony, 41, were stopped by Cpl. Donald Evans and Patrolman Jeffery Frencher a short distance from where the victim said two men took cash from his pockets about 2 a.m.

The officers recovered the same amount of money when they searched the suspects.
