Woman reports robbery attempt
Police are investigating an attempted robbery near Ridge Road and Colfax Street.
A woman told police after she and her boyfriend got into an argument and he left her in the PayLow parking lot in Gary, she was walking through the Citgo parking lot when three men drove up, said they saw what happened and offered her a ride home at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday.
The woman got into the back seat of the car, and as they were traveling south on Colfax, the front passenger turned around, pointed a silver handgun and demanded her purse. The woman refused. At 41st and Colfax, the back-seat passenger tried to choke her, but the men let her out near 45th Street and Wheeler.
The car is described as a four-door tan car with lightly tinted windows. The man with the gun was in his late 20s, with short hair, jean shorts and a yellow shirt. The back set passenger was in his late 20s with short hair and a blue T-shirt and black baseball hat. The driver had short dreadlocks.
The woman had no sign of injury but was visibly shaken, police said.
