Lowell enacts restrictions on water use

Lowell enacted a water sprinkling ban Tuesday, which will remain in effect for 30 days.
Customers of Lowell Water Utility whose street address ends in an even number are permitted to water lawns, wash motor vehicles or fill swimming pools only on even numbered days; odd street addresses are permitted to water lawns, wash motor vehicles and fill swimming pools only on odd days.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security and Department of Natural Resources issued a water shortage warning for the entire state, and the goal is to avoid water shortages and relieve stress on water sources by reducing water use by 10 percent to 15 percent.
