Lake Station woman dies from smoke inhalation

The Lake County Coroner’s office is investigating what caused the death of an elderly Lake Station woman at her home Wednesday afternoon.

According to a release, Edna Ripperdan, 90, of the 3300 block of Arizona Street, suffered smoke inhalation at her home. The coroner’s office has not ruled on a cause of death, however.

She was pronounced dead at 2:19 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hobart.
