The Lake County Democratic precinct caucus to select a new county coroner has been set for 10 a.m. Sept. 15 at the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 Sohl Ave.
Precinct representatives will elect a replacement for Thomas Philpot, following his Aug. 24 conviction on five felony charges in federal court.
State law calls for officeholders to step aside if convicted of a felony.
