A Gary woman who admitted she shot a man in the head during a fight has pleaded guilty in Lake Superior Court to voluntary manslaughter.
Alisha Lianna Magee faces from 20 to 26 years at her Oct. 9 sentencing hearing before Judge Salvador Vasquez, who took the plea agreement under advisement.
Magee, 29, of Gary, admitted she and the victim, Frederick Clark, were at Clark’s home on June 4, 2010, in the 800 block of West 25th Avenue in Gary when they got into a fight. Magee pulled out a handgun and fired at Clark twice, aiming the second shot at Clark’s head with the intent to kill him because she was angry.
Clark, whose first name also is spelled Fredrick in court records, died that same day.
Magee’s murder case had been set for trial starting Sept. 10. The plea agreement, which caps Magee’s sentence at 26 years, calls for dismissal of the murder charge. Murder is punishable by 45 to 65 years.
