Highland Police are searching to for two suspects who carjacked a 70-year-old man at gunpoint Wednesday morning.
Around 9:56 a.m., the man was walking in his driveway in the 3800 block of Wicker Avenue and two black men on the sidewalk asked a few questions. Highland Detective John Siple said they asked him if he knew a certain person, then they displayed a black semi-automatic pistol and forced him into his garage. They forced the man to the ground, then took his keys and wallet. The suspects took $81 in cash and four credit cards from the wallet before disposing of it.
The men drove off in the victim’s 2011 gray Ford Explorer, heading east on Wicker Avenue before turning south onto Kleinman Road. Siple said the vehicle doesn’t have a tracking device, but it has an Indiana handicapped plate with the number D992V.
Siple said both suspects were described as being around 18 years old. The man with the gun was about 5 feet 4 inches tall and wore dark clothing, while details on the second suspect were few.
