A Lake Superior Court jury deliberated about two hours Friday before convicting a Hammond man of two counts of child molesting.
Ventriss Ray-el Hulitt, 24, faces a maximum 50-year prison term at his Nov. 13 sentencing hearing before Judge Salvador Vasquez.
Jurors convicted Hulitt of child molesting, a Class A felony punishable by 20 to 50 years, and child molesting, a Class C felony punishable by two to eight years.
Evidence presented by deputy prosecutors Catherine Breitweiser-Hurst and Christine Parry showed that Hulitt molested a 9-year-old girl repeatedly in Merrillville. The case was filed in March 2010.
