Probation for Illinois burglar
A Sauk Village, Ill., man was placed on probation for four years for burglary and ordered to pay $500 in restitution to the victim.
Lake Superior Court Judge Clarence Murray imposed the sentence outlined in the plea agreement for Richard Williams Jr., 28, who admitted he broke into a home in the 1400 block of Junction Avenue in Schererville and took three televisions, a laptop computer, home entertainment system, gold jewelry and watches. The burglary occurred Sept. 28, 2009.
Defense attorney Alex Woloshansky said his client, who is employed, is remorseful for his actions and for disappointing his family.
Williams told the judge he is trying to make a better life for his family and apologized to the people he has hurt.
Williams had faced six to 20 years on the original burglary charge.
