Mother hears daughter assaulted over the phone
Police arrested a Glen Park man at his girlfriend’s home after her mother called police because she heard her daughter being assaulted over the telephone.
Jacorri Howard, 21, of 3670 Washington St., pleaded not guilty to domestic battery.
The 25-year-old victim told Patrolman Daniel Perryman she was on the phone with her mother late Sunday night when Howard tried to take the phone from her hand and they struggled.
She said he pushed her down and grabbed her neck, then began to throw her laptop computer down the stairs of her apartment.
Her mother called police, who arrived and found Howard at the residence in the 600 block of Adams Street.
Gary Ctiy Court referee Itsia Rivera scheduled Howard’s hearing for Jan. 9 and set his bail at $1,500 cash. She ordered him to have no contact with the victim.
