Griffith man gets work release
Lake Superior Court Magistrate Natalie Bokota sentenced a Griffith man to 15 months in an alternative program for attempted theft.
Bokota ordered Richard Bartell, 27, to serve his time for attempted theft in Lake County Community Corrections. Bartell admitted he broke into a vehicle parked outside a Munster business and tried to steal and radio and a purse.
Bartell, who was on probation for criminal recklessness at the time, was sentenced to four years on the probation revocation, which also will be served in community corrections.
Schererville
Employee charged with theft
A former employee with Schererville Glass & Mirror has been charged with Class D Felony Theft.
Jeffrey D. Zelencik, 39, of Valparaiso was charged with taking a $600 payment from a customer after completing an installation and never returning the money to Schererville Glass.
A warrant was issued for Zelencik through Lake County Superior Court.
Detective William Bednar filed Class D Felony Theft charges with the Lake County Prosecutors Office.
