Employees tackle would-be robber
An off-duty police officer helped convenience store workers detain a would-be robber at One Stop Mart, 719 W. 45th Ave., early Monday.
Sgt. Clarence Headd called for help after employees tackled Michael E. Brown, 33, who had told them, “Drop the money or I will kill you.”
Sgt. Michael Lentner and Patrolmen Arthur Lemme and Brandon Gildon arrived and took Brown into custody. He is being held pending robbery and other charges.
Brown pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine in April.
Armed masked man robs dollar store
A masked gunmen robbed Family Dollar, 500 W. 5th Ave., about 5:55 p.m. Sunday night, Lt. Del Stout said.
Witnesses told Patrolman Jeremy Joseph the robber pointed a gun at the manager’s head and ordered her to give him money from the registers. Detective Lorenzo Davis is investigating the robbery.
