Four years for attempted robbery
Lake Superior Court Judge Diane Ross Boswell sentenced a 20-year-old Gary man to four years for attempted robbery.
Damonta Lamont Jarrett, 20, admitted he was with two other people on May 20 at the GoLo station in the 5200 block of Broadway in Gary. Jarrett noticed a handgun on the belt of Daniel Torres. Jarrett and his accomplices surrounded and attacked Torres by trying to wrestle the handgun from the holster. Torres suffered a cut on his hand and a bruise on his head.
Jarrett will serve three years in Lake County Community Corrections. The last year of his sentence will be served on probation.
