8-year-old killed by train in East Chicago

EAST CHICAGO — An 8-year-old boy died Saturday when he was struck by a train in the 4600 block of Magoun Street, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.
The death occurred about 3:20 p.m., according to a news release from the coroner’s office. The boy’s identity was being withheld until his relatives could be notified.
The boy, a pedestrian who lived about a block from the scene near Lewis Street, died of blunt force trauma, the coroner’s office said.
No additional information was immediately available Saturday night.
