Portage man caught stealing razors at Town and Country
A man was injured Friday afternoon in an altercation with Town and Country associates after he was observed putting items under his shirt.
Raymond M. Poehl, 27, was charged with theft, a Class D felony, and misdemeanor battery. Around 2:23 p.m., police were called to the store, located at 6046 Central Avenue.
Poehl was in and out of consciousness as paramedics were treating him. They removed several items from his coat and shirt, including batteries, shaving razors and air fresheners.
A manager said he and another employee went to the exit to prevent Poehl from leaving and advised Poehl to step back into the store. As they escorted him inside, he tried to slip out of his thick coat and started throwing elbows from side to side.
The three men went to the ground where they detained Poehl as he relaxed and was in and out of consciousness. One employee sustained a cut under his left eye.
