Robbery in Illinois leads to chase
A Chicago duo were caught hiding in a Highland backyard after they allegedly committed an armed robbery in Burnham, Ill., Tuesday night.
Chicago residents Rakell Dushone Simmons and Joshua E. Bruce, both 20, were arrested and face armed robbery and other charges in Lake County and in Illinois.
Around 10:30 p.m., Highland police received calls about an incident at Ridge Road and Osborne Street. A car had crashed after shots were fired at the robbery victim, who was chasing the suspects from Burnham, Ill.
The suspects fled the scene on foot, and a resident in the 8800 block of Osborne told police that the duo had asked her to call a cab.
Munster and Griffith police helped form a perimeter, and the suspects were tracked to a backyard in the 8900 block of Lawndale. Police recovered a gun on the suspects.
