A Crown Point man who was involved with a six-and-a-half hour standoff with police on Christmas night faces a misdemeanor count of intimidation.
Robert P. Gunther, 46, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday after the Northwest Regional SWAT unit entered his house, located in the 300 block of Maple Street in Crown Point’s Liberty Park subdivision. Around 7:56 p.m., Gunther claimed that he had shot a neighbor and would shoot family members if they came back to his house.
Police found that the neighbor was unharmed.
They tried to call Gunther numerous times and deployed tear gas canisters before entering the house.
