Woman charged in fatal stabbing
The woman arrested Wednesday after police found her live-in boyfriend dead at their home has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
Takesha Sanders, 23, of 2010 Tennessee St., is charged with stabbing Gregory Cole, 20, the father of her younger son.
Sanders told Detective Cpl. Michael Barnes she and Cole argued and he had a knife. They struggled and she stabbed him.
Police found Cole dead on the living room floor about 5 a.m.
“I think I deserve to go to jail,” Sanders told Barnes. She said she should have left the house.
Police recovered the knife at the scene, and located the suspect with her two children and her sister at a house in the 2000 block of W. 12th Avenue.
Sanders had cuts on her hands from fighting with Cole over control of the knife. After the stabbing, Sanders left with her children and her sister.
Man shot and robbed near home
A 20-year-old man was shot and robbed as he walked just blocks from his home late Wednesday night.
Artimus Carter said he was at 6th Avenue and Georgia Street when a man approached him, pointed a gun and demanded money. Carter gave him some cash, but was shot in the groin before the robber ran from the scene.
Detective Cpl. James Nielsen is investigating the crime. Anyone with information can call him at 881-4754.
