Man shot outside Merrillville nightclub

MERRILLVILLE — Gunfire erupted at a nightclub early Saturday, leaving one man seriously wounded.
Detective Sgt. Jeff Rice said Monday the wounded man, who was not identified, is in intensive care at an area hospital. Rice said the incident unfolded in the parking lot of the Club 83 nightclub, 1506 E. 83rd Ave., after it closed.
Rice said a fight began as patrons exited the club and security officers separated the quarreling parties. A short time later, multiple gunshots were heard in the parking lot and a male subject was found wounded. Rice said the victim is unable to speak at this time.
