Police arrested a 17-year-old boy after they found a shotgun in the car he was driving. The incident began when a resident of the 2400 block of Harrison Street reported receiving a threatening telephone call from a teen who had argued with her son in November, Gary police spokeswoman Cpl. Gabrielle King said. She saw the car outside and called police, who stopped the suspect at 35th Avenue and Harrison Street and located a shotgun in the back seat. The teen was taken to the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center charged with possession of a dangerous firearm and intimidation.
Beauty salon raid

An employee and owner of 360 Beauty Salon was arrested at the business in the 1200 block of Broadway during a raid Wednesday by the Narcotics-Vice Unit. Owner Ronnie Gordon, 27, was charged with maintaining a common nuisance. Detectives found several baggies of marijuana at the work station of Julius Ester, 28, who became the target of the month-long investigation. Confidential informants bought marijuana and cocaine from Ester, known as “Billy.” Ester is charged with one count of dealing cocaine and five counts of dealing marijuana. Ester also allegedly sold marijuana from his home at 820 Tyler St., court records state.
Ex sets new girlfriend’s
car on fire
A Glen Park woman is charged with arson after her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend discovered her car had been set on fire. Patricia A. Lagrone, 30, of 5149 Tennessee St., admitted to the victim that she burned the car while it was parked a repair shop in the 2300 block of Washington Street on Jan. 12.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Lagrone. The victim obtained a protective order to keep Lagrone away from her, court records show.
