Man tried to bribe cops at OWI stop
A Schererville man with a prior drunken driving conviction has been charged with bribery and felony drunken driving after he was stopped by Griffith police and offered the arresting officers money to be released.
When Jason David Clark, 34, of the 900 block of Troon Court, was told he was being placed into custody for suspicion of operating while intoxicated, Clark faced the officers and said, “Can I throw a couple hundred dollars your way if you let me go?” the probable cause affidavit states.
Clark was pulled over Jan. 31 in the 600 block of North Wiggs Street. He initially denied drinking, then admitted he had consumed about five beers in the last hour.
The charges, which were filed in Lake Superior Court, are punishable by a maximum eight-year sentence.
Man charged with sex crimes
A St. John man has been charged in Lake Superior Court with two counts of attempted sexual gratification and child solicitation.
Bradley M. Bargamian, 39, of the 10900 block of Beacon Court, is charged with paying a 15-year-old girl to get into his Jacuzzi with him and to have sex with a 14-year-old girl while he watched. The girl told police she met Bargamian on the phone. He supposedly called a wrong number, but continued a conversation with her, called her later that evening and developed a friendship with her. He would take the girl and her friends out to eat mostly at fast-food restaurants, but eventually she and her 14-year-old friend would go to his home.
The 14-year-old girl told police Bargamian had made sexual comments to her, touched her on her leg and kissed her. She also told police about Bargamian paying her to have sex with her friend while he watched them, the probable cause affidavit states.
The charges are punishable by a sentence range of six months to three years.
