GARY — There was still no official word from EdisonLearning Inc. Friday on the status of Terrance Little, principal at the Roosevelt College and Career Academy, a turnaround school.
While officials from EdisonLearning said there would be a resolution to Little’s status Friday, spokesman Michael Serpe said “there are matters that are still being addressed.”
Little, who isn’t under contract with EdisonLearning, but receives a salary of $135,000, apparently blindsided the education management company when its officials read in Wednesday’s Post-Tribune he had accepted a job with the Gary Community School Corp. Little was hired by the Gary School Board to help turn around the school district’s low-achieving schools.
On Thursday, a Roosevelt school board authorized Superintendent Vanessa Ronketto to appoint a new principal, if the need arises. Serpe said an individual has been identified for that role and can immediately step in as principal.
After the newspaper published a story on Little’s hiring, he denied he had a new job and has been unavailable for comment all week.
