A Gary man already charged with robbing banks in Merrillville and Munster faces two more counts of robbing other banks in those same towns.
A superseding indictment handed down Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Hammond charges Stacy Davis, 45, with four counts of bank robbery.
Davis was charged last month with robbing a Merrillville Chase Bank on Oct. 11 and a Munster Fifth Third Bank in March 2010.
But his spree may have started earlier with the robbery of a Merrillville Chase Bank in October 2009, although it is unclear if it was the same Chase he is accused of robbing five months ago.
The fourth robbery took place just days before after the most recent one, on Oct. 2, at a TCF Bank in Munster, according to the indictment.
Davis has been ordered held without bond pending trial.
