GARY — Two people were wounded Wednesday afternoon just blocks from where two teens were shot and killed on Sunday.
Dorothy McGill, 74, was shot in the back but police said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Richard King, 22, was struck in the arm. He was treated at The Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus emergency room, then released to police custody. King is wanted on two warrants for failing to appear in Lake Superior Court on two separate criminal cases.
When police arrived at the corner of 17th Avenue and Roosevelt Place about 2 p.m., they found the two victims and a Ford SUV with shattered windows, and one flat tire. The SUV was parked at an angle outside the garage, located north of the residence where the shooting occurred.
Detectives Cpl. Michael Barnes and Cpl. Jeff Hornyak arrived on the scene to question potential witnesses and determine how the Ford was damaged.
Several shell casings were recovered in the street east of the house.
