Excise police make 5 arrests at Hammond bars

HAMMOND — City and Indiana Excise Police officers arrested five minors and cited Aquavor nightclub for allowing minors to loiter during weekend compliance checks.
An Illinois man, Markest Hunter, 24, was arrested at Porters Tap, 6405 Kennedy Ave., after Hammond Police found marijuana in his possession.
Luis Ozuma, 19, Francisco Bernal, 20, and Francisco Miranda, 19, all from Hammond, were found inside Aquavor, 5260 Hohman Ave., and arrested. The nightclub was cited for allowing minors to loiter by State Excise Police.
A fifth man, Michael Cox, 24, was arrested by Hammond for marijuana and cocaine possession at Jason’s Bar & Grill, 3949 Hohman Ave.
Excise and Hammond conducted their compliance checks after allegations of gang activity, drug use and minors consuming alcoholic beverages, according to a release.
