Probation for confining girlfriend

Lake Superior Court Judge Clarence Murray sentenced a Merrillville man to 18 months on probation and ordered him to perform 50 hours of community service for criminal confinement involving his girlfriend at the time.

Aubrey Lee Mabon, 54, admitted he confined the woman on July 27 at an apartment in the 1200 block of West 52nd Drive just outside Merrillville town limits. Mabon answered the door when Lake County police knocked, acknowledged there had been a fight and said that it was all good now.

Mabon admitted he forced the woman onto the bed because he wanted to have sex and she didn’t and wouldn’t let the woman leave.

Court records indicate the woman was pregnant at the time.

Mabon faced six to 20 years on the original charge of attempted rape, which was dismissed alone with battery, which is punishable by two to eight years.
