Felon wanted for intimidation
A warrant has been issued for a convicted felon charged with felony intimidation, interference with reporting a crime and misdemeanor battery.
Daniel I. Torrence, 29, a resident of Lakeshore Dunes apartments, will be held without bond when he is apprehended, court records show.
He has multiple prior charges for dealing cocaine and an open case filed in September based on an investigation by Lake Station police.
On March 23, Torrence allegedly threatened and assaulted a woman he saw in a bar on Lake Street in Miller.
After he told her, “I’ll shoot y’all, I know where you live,” the victim tried to call police but he took her phone and pulled her hair, dragging her to the floor, the probable cause affidavit states.
The victim told Detective JerVean Gates that Torrence then pointed a gun at her, court records state.
She and a companion fled the bar and called police.
Teen charged with battery of his ex
Rigoberto Ortiz Jr., 18, of 2018 Stevenson St., is charged with two counts of battery resulting in serious bodily injury after his ex-girlfriend reported a February incident to police.
The woman told Detective JerVean Gates she was riding in a car with Ortiz when he punched her and caused her to “black out for about 30 seconds,” the probable cause affidavit states.
She escaped from the car and called for help, but suffered a split lip and bruises on her arm. She and Ortiz had dated about three years.
