CROWN POINT — The search for a new Lake County E-911 director can begin.
Wednesday Thomas Dabertin, consultant for the human resources committee of the Lake County Public Safety Communications Commission, received approval from the Lake County Commissioners to move forward with posting and advertising for the E-911 director.
“The commissioners’ expedient response allows us to move forward immediately,” Dabertin wrote in an email.
The search will be national and will include postings with a variety of law enforcement agencies and associations.
Last week the E-911 commission at its regular meeting authorized Dabertin to contact Lake County Commissioners and provide them with a proposed schedule for implementing a national search for the new director of 911 communications. Officials would like to have applications back by April 26.
Commissioners during an executive session Wednesday with representatives from the 911 commission including vice chair Munster Police Chief Steve Scheckel signed off on the search process. Scheckel could not be reached for comment.
The quick approval will allow officials to meet the April 26 deadline.
