Miller woman hit by car, injured

A 25-year-old Miller woman suffered multiple injuries late Tuesday night when she was struck by a car outside her home in the Glen Ryan subdivision.

Mary Clark was confronted by Taracia Hillard, 24, at Clark’s home about 10 p.m., Gary police spokeswoman Cpl. Gabrielle King said. Hillard accused Clark of coming to her home in the same subdivision and causing problems. The women argued outside, then Hillard went to her car and struck a car parked in the driveway.

Hillard then put the car in reverse and backed up very fast, then struck Clark and sent her flying from the impact. Clark had numerous injuries, including a possible broken ankle, King said.

Although Hillard fled the scene, police located her at her home later. Her car was found abandoned on the Borman Expressway.

Detective Alex Jones is investigating the case.
