Lake Superior Court Judge Salvador Vasquez sentenced Travis Durham, 23, of Gary, to 18 months on probation for criminal recklessness.
Durham admitted in court that on Dec. 24, 2011, he was driving a brown Buick in the 1800 block of 20th Avenue in Gary while Brandon Carpenter and his family were standing outside his home on the same block. Durham admitted he fired a shot from the moving car. No one was injured.
The charge is punishable by a sentence of six months to three years.
