A Gary woman is admitting she embezzled at least $1,000 from a Merrilville-based union, according to a plea agreement filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court in Hammond.
Tracey R. Tigner, 41, says in the agreement that she stole the money from the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local 460 from August 2009 to December 2011.
Court records have not said how much she embezzled.
Tigner agrees in the plea deal to pay restitution to the union.
She faces up to five years in prison on the count, although federal attorneys will recommend she serve the minimum of federal sentencing guideline recommendations, which will be set later.
Her change of plea hearing is set for April 19.
