Man suspect in another farm theft
A 1,000-gallon water wagon stolen from the Midwestern Saddle and Bridle Club, at 60 N. County Road 450E, southeast of Valparaiso, was noticed missing Sunday. The yellow wagon, worth about $4,000, was found Monday at L&S Metal Recycling in Valparaiso, and the recycling center’s manager told police Lucas Miracle sold him the wagon about one month before. Miracle, 23, of rural Valparaiso, already was in jail for similar alleged thefts and is the suspect of an ongoing investigation.
Lawn lights and decorations stolen
Seventy-two solar-powered lights; six bird figurines and a birdhouse were reported stolen between Monday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday from outside a home in the 800 block of North County Road 500E, southeast of Chesterton. The loss was estimated at $540.
Woman charged with battery to man
Veronica Bates, 48, was arrested at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday for allegedly scratching a 48-year-old man in the face, stomach, chest and arm during an argument at their apartment, in the 6600 block of Lagoon way. Bates is charged with felony domestic battery because a juvenile witnessed the fight.
