HOBART — Quick response by Hobart police led to the arrest of four suspects in a drive-by shooting at Dairy Queen on Main Street, just south of City Hall.
No one was injured, but at least two front windows were shattered by bullets about 8:30 p.m.
Always busy on warm, early spring evenings, the Dairy Queen just south of 5th Street was bustling when a gray Oldsmobile drove south past the business.
Witnesses provided police with a description of the suspect car, which was stopped on South Lake Park Avenue a few minutes later.
A patrol officer saw someone in the car toss an object from the vehicle before he signaled for the driver to stop. Officers recovered a handgun on 10th Street between Wisconsin and Ash streets while others were still questioning the four occupants of the car.
At least one of the suspects was female and at least one was a juvenile.
All four were taken to the police station for booking while police attempted to reach a parent or guardian for the teen suspect.
