Man indicted in second Gary bank robbery

A man already convicted of robbing a bank has been charged with robbing another bank in Gary in March.
A grand jury at U.S. District Court in Hammond returned the indictment Friday against Kevin E. Wilkerson.
Police said Wilkerson, 38, presented a note to a teller on March 18 at People’s Bank in Gary without displaying a gun and walked east from the branch. He was soon arrested near 26th Avenue and Pierce Street by Gary Patrolman Jeremy Joseph.
Wilkerson was sentenced to 58 months in prison in connection the robbery of the Chase Bank at 504 Broadway in September 2007, when he showed the teller a note that contained the drawing of a gun. He was wanted on a federal warrant for violating the terms of his release.
