Javier Oropesa is the fugitive of the week.

The United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force in Hammond is looking for Oropesa, who is wanted by Lake County authorities for murder in a 1998 case that occurred in the Marktown section of East Chicago. Oropesa, who was charged in 2009, was featured that year on “America’s Most Wanted.”

Oropesa, 41, is 5-foot-6, 144 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Oropesa is from East Chicago, but has ties to Mexico and Southern California. Anyone with information on Oropesa’s whereabouts should contact task force investigators by calling toll-free (888) 805-6119 or by texting “capture” to Tip411 (847411). All tipsters will remain anonymous.
