HAMMOND

Garage burglars using brown truck

Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a pickup truck they believe is involved with a series of garage burglaries in the Woodmar and Hessville neighborhoods.

Investigators say the truck, either a Chevrolet or Ford, is chocolate brown with a wide tan stripe along each side. The extended cab appears to be a lighter brown than the long bed.

Anyone who sees the truck can call the Hammond burglary division at 852-2906.

Shelter holds raffle to treat dogs

The Lake County Animal and Adoption Center is selling raffle tickets to raise money for expensive heartworm treatment for two dogs at the shelter, police spokeswoman Patti VanTil said.

The dogs will need at least two months’ worth of medication, which is expensive, VanTil said.

Tickets are available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the center, 3011 W. 93rd Ave., and from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday.

The drawing will be held Saturday, March 1. The prize is an Insignia 8-inch tablet computer, which was donated for the raffle.

For more information, call the shelter staff at 769-7016.
