Updated: April 1, 2014 10:18AM

A Dyer woman was killed in a crash involving a tanker truck Thursday morning on Interstate 394 near south suburban Crete, Ill.

Sarah Sanaghan, 29, was driving a Chevrolet Cruze westbound on Burville Road, and was stopped at I-394 when she pulled in front of a Peterbilt semitanker traveling southbound on the expressway about 5:40 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.

The truck hit the car on the passenger side, before striking a light pole on the southwest side of the highway, rolling on its side and coming to rest in a ditch, police said.

Sanaghan was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the tanker was not injured.

No hazardous materials were spilled in the crash, police said.

Southbound I-394 was closed south of Exchange Avenue, but reopened about noon, police said. Burville Road was also closed between the interstate and Cottage Grove Avenue, but has also reopened.
