15-year-old stabbed in back while walking
A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the back as he walked in Glen Park about 7 p.m., police said.
The teen was taken by family members to the Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus where he was treated for the cut injury.
Patrolman Emilio Guajardo learned the boy was walking in the 3600 block of Polk Street about 7 p.m., and that was around the time that three men approached him, police spokeswoman Cpl. Gabrielle King said.
One of the three bumped the victim intentionally, then afterwards the others questioned him about why he did it and started beating him.
2 charged in brutal assault on their mother-in-law
Arrest warrants have been issued for two Gary women allegedly involved in an assault on the mother-in-law of one of the women. Angel Lynn Harbor, 29, and Jurniece James-Prentiss, 25, are charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury and residential entry for a Dec. 3 incident at the apartment building of Marie Houseworth.
The victim told Detective Jervean Gates she, her son and another person were playing cards at her apartment near 5th Avenue and Grant Street when her back door opened and her son’s wife came in with a knife, the probable cause affidavit states.
The victim’s son darted out the front door with James-Prentiss chasing immediately after him. Houseworth followed, although when she reached the entrance of the building, her son was gone.
The two women started hitting her and Houseworth suffered injury to her eye that requires treatment from a specialist, the affidavit states.
