HOBART — The former owner of a photography studio in the city is being sought for allegedly sexually molesting the teenage daughter of an acquaintance, police said Tuesday.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Scott Briggs, 43, of 403 Main St., on charges of child molesting and sexual misconduct with a minor.

Police said Briggs drives an older-model, green Toyota Camry with a missing fuel cap cover and three missing door handles, Detective James Gonzales said.

Briggs, who operated Midstates Photography from the Main Street address, molested the girl from when she was 13 until shortly before her mother reported the abuse to police on Jan. 16, police said.

The girl is now 15, Gonzales said.

The first time that Briggs molested the teen was when she went to his studio to see proofs of photos that he had taken of her a short time before, according to police.

Midstates Photography is no longer in operation, according to the Better Business Bureau website states.

A phone number listed for Briggs’ studio has been reassigned.
