Richard Bombain, 30, of Hobart, appeared in Gary City Court Monday to explain why he missed a court date in May.
“I was in the hospital,” Bombain told Judge Pro Tem Itsia Rivera. He was arrested April 2 driving without a valid license. Rivera asked him why he couldn’t get a license.
“I’m blind,” he replied.
“How many people are you trying to kill?” she asked.
“I apologize,” he added.
“I don’t want your apology. I want you to stay off the road,” Rivera warned.
Bombain said he is legally blind. Trial is set for Sept. 26.
