CROWN POINT

Admission information sessions: The University of Saint Francis Crown Point is hosting three question-and-answer sessions for those seeking entry to the associate of science in nursing or the licensed practical nurse to associate of science in nursing programs. The informal sessions run from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, and Monday, March 5, at 12800 Mississippi Parkway, Pavilion U. An R.S.V.P. is suggested but not required. High school reception: The High School Biennial Reception will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Indiana University Northwest Gallery for Contemporary Art, Savannah Center, 3400 Broadway. King convocation at PUC: The annual Martin Luther King Jr. free convocation will start at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Purdue University Calumet’s Alumni Hall, third floor of the Student Union and Library, 2300 173rd St. The program focuses on King’s Aug. 16, 1967, speech to the Southern Leadership Conference “Where Do We Go from Here?” Call 989-2779.

Get on F.A.S.T. Track: Our Family Center, 820 171st St., is accepting applications from high school juniors and seniors for the F.A.S.T. Track program in preparation for college. It is available free to qualified students through a grant from the Legacy Foundation. Activities include ACT and SAT preparation, college visits and applying for financial aid. HIGHLAND-MUNSTER

Scholarships available: Tri Kappa is looking for qualified applicants from Highland or Munster to apply for state scholarships amounting to $1,000 each. Applicants for the fine arts, Twanette Nutter Fleming Music Award and Key Scholarship must be full-time college students enrolled in a baccalaureate or graduate program who have completed at least one academic year. LAKE COUNTY

Scholarship opportunity: The Lake County master gardeners scholarship program continues for the 2012-13 academic year for Lake County residents. Students majoring in horticulture and landscape architecture, forestry, botany, plant pathology and entomology are eligible. The application deadline is Feb. 15. Forms are available from university offices or by calling the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service, Lake County office, 755-3240.

Scholarship offered: The Lake County Extension Homemakers Association is accepting applications for the annual Lucile Smith Memorial Scholarship to Lake County residents ages 21 and older. Applications must be received by March 1. For an application or more information, call 755-3242.

MERRILLVILLE

GED testing: Merrillville Adult Education is offering general equivalency diploma testing from 4:45 to 9 p.m. Feb. 6, 7, 27 and 28 at Merrillville High School, 276 E. 68th Place. The fee is $70 for the complete test or $14 per subtest, payable by cash only. Registration is required from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Merrillville Adult Education Office, 6701 Delaware St. Call 650-5310.

MUNSTER

College-prep class offered: A free college-preparation course has been scheduled for adult students at Indiana Tech, 9245 Calumet Ave. Math is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 20, 27, March 5 and 12. The course includes free textbooks and materials. To register, call 836-1910, Ext. 4805.
